John Brown Liberty ship. The John Brown is one of two surviving fully operational Liberty ships preserved in the United States. The S.S. John Brown is the product of an emergency shipbuilding program of World War II that resulted in more than 2,700 Liberty ships. November 11, 2011: The Fire Brigade will again be performing for the opening ceremony of The Maryland Irish Festival. The ceremony begins at 7pm.
